A bumper crowd of 847 enjoyed an action-packed match at the Bob Lucas Stadium on "Non-League Day", with the 'Terras' deservedly leaving with all three points.
Both teams started well, and half chances did fall to Terras skipper Stewart Yetton and the Rebels’ Johnnie Dyer, but the first save did not arrive until 17 minutes in – and a super one it was, with Somerville turning over a fierce strike from Chris Shephard.
Three minutes later though, Somerville was powerless to stop Adam Kelly putting Weymouth ahead from the edge of the box after a free kick routine straight off the training ground.
Minutes later, the hosts were unfortunate not to double their lead, as Tim Sills hit the post, with the ball somehow being cleared after a number of blocks.
But Weymouth did score a second on 31 minutes, as Sills turned provider for Shephard to make it 2-0. Shephard made a run forward and latched on to a perfect through ball from Sills, rolling the ball into the bottom corner with ease.
Four minutes later, Johnnie Dyer reduced the arrears from the penalty spot after a foul on Ed Smith, with Weymouth guilty of poor defending. Jamie Laird’s header back to goalkeeper Matthews was too short, allowing Smith to nip in, only to be felled by Matthews. Dyer coolly sent the keeper the wrong way from twelve yards.
But Weymouth restored their two goal lead with a strike which ultimately was to prove decisive. Shephard was in the thick of the action yet again, setting prolific striker Yetton free, and this time he showed his experience by rounding Somerville and rolling the ball into an empty net, in first-half stoppage time. The goal came just moments after Dyer had seen a goal bound effort saved.
Slough refused to give in though, and the Rebels again brought the deficit back to just one three minutes into the second half as an unmarked Reece Yorke headed in a corner from James Dobson.
Weymouth rarely looked like conceding again as they racked up their third straight win, and Kelly had appeals for a penalty dismissed, whilst Yetton saw another strike ruled out for offside. The inventive Shephard, a constant thorn in the side of the Rebels, continued to create chances and try his luck from range, as the hosts looked more likely to score a fourth.
Slough gave the Terras a scare in stoppage time when Alex Witham went close with a volley, but the homes side were good value for their win.
