Slough came back from a half time deficit to claim a point at Oak Tree Road, thanks to Johnnie Dyer’s second half strike.
The Rebels, hoping to arrest a recent slump in form and results, got off to a perfect start with a goal in the first minute. Warren Harris took advantage of the ball holding up on the heavy turf, taking the ball past Simon Grant and nodding in to an empty net.
Adam Foulser saw his header saved by Grant, whilst Slough’s on loan goalkeeper Max Oberschmidt needed to make a good save to his right from Richie Whittingham’s free kick.
Slough spurned a great chance to double their lead when Jamie McClurg was played in on goal by Scott Harris, but his shot was too weak and easily saved.
Both sides were finding it tough going on the wet, heavy pitch, and Marlow equalised in fortunate circumstances on 29 minutes when Dave Woozley’s back pass bobbled over the foot of Oberschmidt as he attempted to kick the ball clear, and into the net.
Not long after, Warren Harris skilfully lifted the ball over Grant from the angle of the penalty area, but his shot bounced onto the cross bar and was cleared to safety.
Marlow’s new signing Michael Alexis, a former Slough favourite, brought another good save out of Oberschmidt as he struck a shot from distance.
On the stroke of half-time, Marlow’s Ian Davies was adjudged to have been hauled back by Woozley in the box, and the referee pointed to the spot, to the anger of Slough’s joint managers. Michael Bartley remained cool and swept the ball just past the reach of Oberschmidt from the spot.
It took Slough only ten minutes into the second half to restore parity though, Johnnie Dyer racing on to a through ball from McClurg and placing the ball across Grant and into the back of the net.
Both teams had chances to win the game as the game wore on. Darren Wheeler curled a free kick just wide, whilst Ian Davies went close as he acrobatically attempted to turn Whittingham’s shot past Oberschmidt. For Slough, Warren Harris shot wide after being played in by substitute Adam Cornell, making his first appearance for the Rebels.
Marlow had the better chances late on after the introduction of Jon Bennett from the bench. Bennett first wasted a good chance when played through by Ian Davies, and shortly after saw a fierce strike from distance cannon back off the crossbar, with Oberschmidt well beaten.
In the final minute Slough had one last chance to take all three points, but Cornell prodded his shot wide of the post with only Grant to beat as he stretched to make contact with the ball.
