Yeading had a splendid opportunity to put that disappointing result behind them and start the new year on a good note when they entertained Slough on New Year's Day, one of only two games in the entire Ryman League to beat the freeze.
It was a credit to the skills of those working behind the scenes that the game went on at all in atrocious weather conditions, but, in the end, it was the weather and the treacherous pitch that won the day.
Despite valiant efforts from both sides, neither was able to break the deadlock and, in the freezing cold, both sets of players looked relieved to get back inside when the final whistle sounded. This hard-earned point left The Ding lying in seventh place on 38 points well-placed to mount a serious challenge for the remainder of the season.
