The scoreline doesn't tell the full story of a game that Slough dominated from the start, winning 15 corners hut unable to make their pressure count.

The only change to the side that was held by Southport the previous Saturday was the return of Ben Miles in goal, for the first game of his second loan spell at the club this season.

The Rebels could have taken the lead as early as the third minute, when Gary Brazil chased Mark Fiore's long ball towards the Bath goal. Bath keeper Mervin came out to meet it but Brazil rounded him and it was left to defender French to cut out Brazil's shot.

Gary Abbott headed over the bar twice in the first ten minutes, and it wasn't until the 19th minute that Miles was first called into action, coming out quickly to deny Hirons. And he followed it up with an excellent save minutes later, again to deny Hirons.

Slough ended the half on top with a string of corners, but it was Bath who started the second half more dangerously, with chances falling to Colbourne, whose shot was well blocked by Miles, and Wyatt. But Slough carried on building well, with Brazil looking dangerous linking up with Hardyman and McMinn.

A defensive mistake put Abbott one-on-one with the keeper in the 51st. His shot was blocked by Hervin's foot.

And another mistake in the 65th put Brazil clear on goal but he was brought down on the edge of the box and the free kick was blasted against the wall.

A point may seem a poor reward for the dominance Slough had shown, but the chances were there and it was a performance to build on. The only worry was the substitution of Gary Blackford who aggravated an earlier groin injury. Brian McDermott said Blackford had a 50/50 chance of playing on Saturday.
