The Rebels fell to a 3-1 away defeat to Dorking Wanderers after goals from Edward Harris, Alfie Rutherford and a wonder-strike from Jason Prior helped the hosts register all three points at Meadowbank.
Slough initially took the lead through a Harris own goal, but Dorking responded well throughout the fixture and pick up their second league win of the season.
Neil Baker and Jon Underwood’s men started the game with confidence as Sean Fraser’s early effort was blocked well by the Dorking defence in the opening minutes of the match.
And it was the visitors who took the lead midway through the first half when a Rebels cross ricocheted off defender Harris before trickling past Slavomir Huk and into the bottom corner.
But the hosts found their equaliser just moments later as forward Alfie Rutherford controlled a well-delivered ball before outmuscling the Slough defence and finding the net with a low driven strike.
The Wanderers went on the offensive after levelling and took the lead shortly before the half-time whistle. A Dorking corner found an unmarked Harris at the back-post, and the defender made amends for his earlier own goal by driving his header past Jack Turner.
The second half began with intensity from the hosts eagerly looking for a third and further control of the score line. Turner held Prior’s low driven shot moments into the restart before Wesley Fogden’s close-range header flew over the crossbar on the stroke of the hour mark.
Matt Lench attempted to push the Rebels level but his free kick from distance was blocked well by the Dorking wall.
But it was the hosts who picked up momentum and extended their lead 15 minutes from time with a fantastic finish from Prior. The attacker broke down the left before cutting inside and firing past Turner and into the top corner to seal the win for Dorking.
Lench tried to reduce the deficit late on, but his long-range strike flew well over the crossbar as Dorking held out for the victory.
