Slough Town and bottom side North Greenford United played out a 0-0 draw at Berkeley Fields.

After the high of Saturday's FA Cup win, Slough had by far the better of the chances, but were unable to find a goal.

The hosts made a fast-paced start, but Slough had many of the early half-chances - all falling to Dan Burnell.

Slough’s top scorer couldn’t get enough power on an attempted lob as a clearance gave him a sight of goal, and Richard McCabe gathered comfortably. Burnell had another sight of goal soon after after Sean Sonner clipped a reverse pass in to him, but McCabe denied him.

For North Greenford, Charlie Hill was looking dangerous, and the winger dug out a shot from distance, but Warrington had it well covered as it flew wide.

The Rebels were struggling to get hold of the ball and keep it, with the hosts pressing and hassling to good effect.

North Greenford could well have taken the lead midway through the first half, but skipper Danny Bennell put a free header wide.

Before the interval, Sean Sonner headed the ball across, but nobody can get a touch.

As the second half got underway, Slough had a huge let-off as Aaron McLeish struck a shot against the post, the ball running kindly away from goal.

Paul Coyne went close to another special long-range effort, spotting McCabe off his line from distance after a poor clearance, but his effort was just too high.

The chances began to come for Slough after a period of sustained pressure, Sonner lashing one shot just over. Sonner curled another from the edge of the box, but McCabe made a simple save. The striker would later go into the referee’s book as frustration started to show.

Slough continued to dominate and perhaps the best of the chance was spurned by Nathan Bowden-Haase, who headed a corner agonisingly over from almost under the crossbar.

Chances continued to come as Burnell shot over and Coyne fired an excellent chance well over as Martin laid the ball across, but at the other end Warrington had a nervy moment as he punched a cross straight at a North Greenford player, but the ball ran behind.

Substitute Ben Abbey found himself in the book for simulation as referee Daniel Richardson saw him take a tumble in the box, and Slough’s frustrations were underlined with a disallowed goal as the ball was bundled into the back of the net, McCabe adjudged to have been fouled in the process.

The hosts almost snuck a goal through Ricky Pither at the end when his shot at the far post was blocked, and another header was put wide.

The last chance fell to Shaun Byrne after a defensive mix-up, but the angle was extremely tight and the midfielder could only slam his shot against the stanchion and wide as the game drew to a close.
