Slough recovered brilliantly from the disappointment of the previous Saturday, beating Godalming in the second match of the double-header between the two clubs.
After their victory at Holloways Park, the ‘Gs’ started as the better of the two sides. Jamie McClurg fired a shot over, and Jamie Jackson was called upon to make a good save from Scott Harris.
Slough broke the deadlock with 36 minutes played. Kyle Anthony was found in the middle of the penalty area, and after his initial effort was saved by Jake Somerville, Anthony followed up to score.
Somerville tipped over a header from Slough skipper Dave Woozley before the break as Slough finished the half strongly.
In the 72nd minute, Slough doubled their lead when Ed Smith ran on to a ball played forward from the back, and lobbed the onrushing Somerville.
Within two minutes, Godalming pulled a goal back when Warren Harris’ strike from the edge of the box was touched past Jackson by Dan Read.
Dave Deeney forced Somerville into a good save from a free kick, but Godalming piled on the pressure in the closing stages with Read having a goal disallowed as he was in an offside position.
Slough held on to claim three vital points ahead of another difficult trip to Rugby on Thursday evening.
