Slough travelled to Cirencester without the recently departed James Pritchard. Scott Webb, recently signed from Marlow, lined up in the centre of the back three.
However, it was a nightmare start for the Rebels and Webb. Within 28 seconds of the start Carl Brown who had taken the kick off spun passed a statuesque Slough defence to lob the ball expertly over Jackson from the edge of the box.
Slough totally failed to get into the game and after just ten minutes found themselves two goals behind. Slough lost the ball in the attacking third and Cirencester broke with pace. Sysum brought the ball forward from defence and fed in Brown who again turned the Rebels defence this time feeding in Davies who tucked the ball home.
Slough seemed totally overrun in midfield but the attacking threat was present thanks to the tireless running of Yashwa Romeo. On two occasions he broke clear with pace down the right flank but his whipped crosses were cleared by the towering Cirencester centre backs.
On the half hour the game was almost put to bed when Minturn’s sharp shot beat Jackson but hit the wood work and going wide.
Slough desperately needed an early break through in the second half and it seemed that Sweets had sent the players out determined to get back into the game. However, luck was not with the Rebels when eight minutes into the second half Laurence Brown had what seemed a good goal ruled out for offside as he poked home a rebound.
The continually unfortunate Jordan also struck the bar as he swiped at the ball on the hour mark.
However, the breakthrough finally arrived on the 68th minute with Rory Smith ghosting forward from the back to head home a free kick for his first goal for the club.
Just when the impetus seemed to be with Slough their desperation to get back into the match seemed to lead to the old errors returning and Cirencester were able to take control of the midfield and began to threaten the Slough goal once more.
And on 79 minutes, Griffin was played in behind a static Slough defence and slotted home from twelve yards signalling the end of the game as a contest.
In the final minute further misery was piled on the Rebels faithful when Williams stepped inside a tiring Smith and bent the ball around Jackson for a four one scoreline.
Whilst the Rebels showed plenty of effort particularly from the front three, they were comfortably beaten having found it impossible to fully recover from such a poor start.
