Slough Town's interest in the Southern League Cup is over after a defeat in a snowstorm at Leighton.
Three second half goals saw the hosts safely through in poor conditions at Bell Close.
The heavy snowfall meant that many of Derek Sweetman’s squad were caught up in traffic and only arrived at the ground ten minutes before kick-off. Indeed, only thirty-eight paying spectators were able to make it to the game.
However, Slough were second best throughout and after an even first half, Leighton took the lead rather fortuitously in the 58th minute.
Leighton had almost fallen behind at the start of the second half as Pete Clifford headed a goalbound effort off the line, but the breakthrough came via a massive deflection from an Aiden Denton shot from the edge of the box which completely wrong-footed Slough goalkeeper Carl Dennison.
Slough's luck was not in as straight from the restart, the Rebels responded with a free kick which hit the bar.
Leighton put the tie beyond reasonable doubt on 66 minutes as Craig Kench netted from substitute Leon Gordon's cross.
The scoring was completed two minutes from time as Pete Clifford headed home a super free kick from Scott Thomas.
