Slough progressed in the Westview League Cup in a bid to retain the trophy they had won the previous season with a two goal win at Leatherhead.
Slough started well on a hard pitch and should have been comfortably in front in the opening ten minutes as chances fell for Leigh Mason, shooting wide when well placed at the far post and then to Matt Seedel who was played in by Mason but could not get enough purchase on his shot as a defender was able to recover and clear. Andy Ballard then dragged his shot wide and you did wonder if it was going to be one of those nights for the Rebels.
The home sides first chance saw them bring a good save from Clark Masters and shortly after O'Connor went close with a drive from distance which went just over.
Slough did manage to get themselves in front just before the half hour mark. Leon Woodruffe stepped up to take a free kick and diverted it through the wall and into the bottom corner.
Leatherhead had a great opportunity to get themselves level with the first chance of the second half. Marc Charles-Smith was played in down the right and he managed to get his cross in past Woodruffe which found Warren Waugh running in between Steve Daly and Josias Carbon but he could only lift his effort high over the bar from a few yards out.
Slough returned with a chance of their own as Matt Seedel played in Garath McCleary down the left channel. The forward cut the ball back across the box where it found the run of Mason but his effort was blocked. Mason again brought another save from Tommy Dunn as his well hit volley from a narrow angle was touched over by the home keeper.
Mark Avery went close with a header before his defensive partner Steve Daly wrapped up the win with a back post header from a McCleary cross in the 87th minute.
The final chance of the game did fall to the home side. Masters chased out of his box to head away a through ball only to see it fall to Charles-Smith. The striker laid the ball into his partner Paul Sears, but the forward could only bend his shot wide of the far post.
