Slough made the journey up to Champion Hill, home of Dulwich Hamlet, to face their tenants Fisher Athletic in what would have been anticipated to be a home win for the big spending Fisher. Slough though had other ideas.
The home side started well and took the lead in the fourth minute. Damian Scannell flicked the ball through the Rebels back line into the path of Ryan Martin who finished at debutant Clark Masters', who had joined on loan from Brentford, left hand post.
Slough stunned their hosts with a quick equaliser. Andy Ballard played the ball long down the left into the run of Jamie Brooks and the winger crossed the ball in front of Ian Hodges run and the Slough striker converted.
The hosts were unlucky not to get back in front as a quick corner from the left was fed into the area and Ellis Green's header bounced back off the bar. Fisher had a few half chances but Masters made some comfortable saves to keep the ball out as the half ended level.
The second half began in much the same manner as the first had finished. Fisher having a lot of the ball but Slough were defending well. Masters had done well to palm away an Anthony Riviere header which had bounced up high.
Slough looked dangerous on the counter though with the lively Brooks being played in by Garath McCleary but his shot went agonisingly wide of the post. Slough did get themselves in front just before the hour mark. Michael Alexis played the ball out in front of Brooks with a swing of his boot, hitting the ball with the outside of his foot. Brooks looked up and spotted the run of Hodges, playing the ball first time into the path of his strike partner and Hodges did what Hodges does and finished confidently to spark celebrations behind the goal of the travelling Rebels supporters.
Fisher certainly had the better of the remaining thirty or so minutes of the game but as much as they had the ball and the territorial advantage, they were not able to test Masters with any serious efforts and Slough held on for a much needed, and possibly unexpected, win.
