Slough picked up their third win of the season over Redbridge as they hosted the London side in the Westview League Cup and again came out victorious by the odd goal in five, just as they had done in the league encounter at Stag Meadow in the early stages of the season.
Redbridge could have taken the lead in the games first chance. Michael Parkin came out of his area to intercept a long diagonal through ball and as the ball cam out, Keith Rowland's sidefooted effort found the midrift of the recovering keeper for a comfortable save.
Slough were up next and a cross from the left from Garath McCleary found Ian Hodges in the box and the striker brought a good save from Sam Bird before the ball was cleared.
As the heavens opened and the rain fell heavily, both sides struggled to adapt to the slippery conditions. Ian Luck found Parkin in good form as his effort from close saw the Slough keeper fling himself to his left to palm away the Redbridge front man's effort.
Slough did take the lead four minutes before half time. Leigh Mason crossed the ball from the right and Hodges met the ball with his run and was able to head home into the corner.
With the rain continuing into the start of the second half, the goalmouths had become particularly troublesome for the respective keepers. Parkin had to be alert to palm a low shot onto his left hand post as Redbridge looked to get themselves back on level terms. They didn't have to wait too much longer. With fifty two minutes played, Ian Luck made no mistake this time having been played in centrally by Rowland's clever flick and he slotted low past Parkin.
Slough responded quickly and were back in front just two minutes later. Parkin again showed good awareness to cut out a through ball and launched a long clearance down the field. Sam Holloway misjudged the flight of the ball and it landed kindly for Hodges who was able to pick his spot and roll the ball past Bird.
Slough extended their lead through Jamie Brooks with sixty four minutes gone. Andy Ballard battled through two defenders to lay the ball to the unmarked Oxford United loanee who prodded the ball past the outcoming Bird and it flicked up into the net.
Redbridge pulled one back in bizarre circumstances. Keeper Bird drop kicked the ball out and the wind took it all the way through to the opposing area. Parkin shouted for the ball but fumbled under pressure from Jimmy Noakes and the ball went through into the open net.
