Slough Town returned to winning ways on Tuesday night as they overcame the challenge of Redbridge and completed the double over the struggling side.
Slough started the stronger of the two sides and Ian Hodges setup Darron Wilkinson for a rare goalscoring opportunity but the midfielders well struck volley went narrowly over.
Slough opened the scoring in the 29th minute through Leigh Mason. Hodges played the ball across the edge of the box and Wilkinson again tried his luck. The shot was blocked and bounced off Josh Millar into the path of Mason who adjusted well to volley into the side of the net and put the Rebels one up.
Hodges played in Millar for another Slough opportunity but the young striker shot wide. Gary Skerritt had a drive wide at the other end as the home side fashioned their first opporunity of the game.
The home side drew level with four minutes of the first half remaining. A corner from the left saw Parkin get caught under the flight of it and the ball was knocked back across for David Apata to convert into an unguarded net.
Redbridge nearly got themselves in front when David Collins tried his luck from the left wing. His dipping, curling volley went just wide of the opposite post.
Slough got back in front on the stroke of half time. Brooks was played in down the left and he crossed the ball in for Hodges to convert at the back post.
Hodges got his second of the game a few minutes into the second half. Andy Ballard's long throw was not dealt with properly and as the ball looped up, Hodges beat everyone to the ball and over a stranded Dean O'Neil in the home goal.
Slough were happy to soak up any pressure the home side could raise and did so comfortably for the majority of the second half. They were able to extend their lead in the eighty-fourth minute as another Ballard long throw, this time from the right, was inadvertently flicked on at the near post by a defender and Michael Alexis was well placed to steer the ball in with his head.
