Slough put the disappointment of their FA Cup exit at the hands of Wroxham the previous week firmly behind them as a strong second half performance saw them come from behind to comfortably beat Maldon Town.
SLough had slightly the better of the first half but real chances were few and far between for both sides. The visitors took the lead with thirty eight minutes played. A long ball over the top which should have been collected by Michael Parkin, was allowed to travel deep into the Slough area as Simon Parker ran through under pressure from Mark Avery to convert across Parkin.
Maldon nearly extended their lead before the half was out as Gary Howard collected the ball after he had been tackled by Andy Ballard. The striker cut back inside and hit a curling effort just wide of the far post with Parkin scrambling.
Slough nearly drew level when a long ball forward by Ballard was nodded down by Ian Hodges. Mark West was running through but could not direct his header on target.
It only took Slough four minutes into the second half to draw level. A corner from Glen Harris managed to get all the way through to an unmarked Ballard at the back post. He controlled the ball before firing it back across goal where it was deflected high into the net.
With seventy minutes gone, Steve Daly continued his recent goalscoring form as he headed home a Leigh Mason cross with a firm downward header from eight yards.
The lead was further extended six minutes later. Sub Josh Millar got his first goal for the club converting from a narrow angle. A Leigh Mason free kick was headed back across goal and Millar was on hand to volley in at the near post from close to the byline.
Millar's introduction brought a new dimension to the Slough attack with some pace and the ability to run at defenders and it was rewarded with Millar's second of the afternoon with six minutes of the game remaining. Collecting the ball from Josias Carbon just inside the Maldon half, he ran at his opposing defender. Closing in on the area, he cut inside and struck the ball into the far corner with the outside of his right foot.
