Slough moved further away from the relegation positions with a deserved win over a strong and determined Enfield side.
Slough, buoyant after their midweek victory against Carshalton, controlled the early stages at the match. They took the lead after only ten minutes when Garry Cross delivered an excellent ball into the area, which was flicked on by Mark Hall for Chris Allen to bundle the ball in at the far post.
Slough then sat back on their lead and eight minutes later a short Enfield corner saw Lee Allen cross in from the right and Robert Boyce head into the net unchallenged.
The home side could have then restored their lead almost immediately. Allen crossed onto the head of Hall, but Jerome John tipped the ball round the post. The remainder of the half was a scrappy affair, but chances for Enfield fell to Lee Allen who had a dipping volley from the edge of the area and a Wayne Brown header at the far post, but neither could capitalise on their efforts.
Slough were a different team in the second half, and mid way through it they restored their lead. Stott played a long ball and with the Enfield defence calling for offside Hall controlled the ball in the air, rounded John and stroked the ball into the net.
Five minutes later they nearly added to that lead when a Dave Rainford drive, was well tipped over the bar by John. But despite the home sides domination the E's were still very much in with a chance of getting something out of the match.
A bad backpass by Slough's Garry Cross was collected by Danny Jones, who saw his shot hit the inside of the post and rebound to safety. The Rebels should have then made the game safe. Junior Haynes, just on as sub, found himself with an open goal after John dropped the ball at his feet, but Haynes somehow blasted the ball wide.
With eight minutes left to play Slough finally killed the game off. Chris Allen's cross from the left fell nicely into the path of Lambert who stroked the ball home for a well deserved victory.
