Slough Town suffered a heavy defeat at Hardenhuish Park, with Ben Harris sent off in the second half after seeing a penalty kick saved, writes Henry Cheal.
Inside the opening three minutes the home side took an early lead thanks to a goal from Joe Hanks. He dribbled past the Slough defence and hit the ball into the bottom corner of the goal.
Chippenham started the better inside the first 15 minutes and they almost doubled their lead but Ricky Aguiar’s effort from 25 yards out was well saved by keeper Jonathan North.
Slough grew into the game and kept on pushing on for equaliser, and it came from a quick throw. The ball fell into the path of Alfonso Tenconi, who calmly finished into the Chippenham net via a post.
Despite the leveller, Slough were on the back foot once more and Chippenham took the lead as Luke Russe’s effort beat North in goal.
Slough dug deep in search of another equaliser, but a few chances in the next 10 minutes ultimately came to nothing.
On the half hour mark Aguiar’s shot from outside the box hit the post, but as soon as they were on the attack again, Chippenham doubled their lead as Jordan Young’s strike from 25 yards out hit the top corner of the net.
Chippenham followed up with their fourth of the afternoon as Aguiar doubled his tally as he escaped the offside trap and coolly converted past North.
A string of chances with twenty minutes to go could have brought Slough back into the game, but Chippenham’s defence came to the rescue by blocking every chance Slough produced, and an effort from Tenconi was ruled out for offside after a pass from Tyler Goodrham.
Slough were awarded a penalty with 15 minutes left as substitute Ben Harris was brought down inside the box. He stepped up to take it but it was well saved by Will Henry in the Chippenham goal. Following the save, Harris was sent off for violent conduct which was yet another setback for Slough.
Soon after, Chippenham were back on the attack and they punished the Rebels, scoring twice in the last ten minutes of the game with a heavily deflected strike from Aguiar and another from debutant Young to close out the match.
