Slough kept up their fine recent form and recorded their fourth victory in the space of eight days with a comfortable 3-0 win at Farm Park.
After a first half in which Slough scored three times and effectively put the game beyond their hosts, the Rebels eased to all three points in the second half, rarely troubled by their opponents.
Fifteen minutes in, Slough were awarded a penalty after a foul on Ed Smith. Dan Burnell stepped up but saw his effort saved by Bobby Khaira in the Hayes goal. Khaira got up to save again as Burnell headed the rebound goalwards, and also blocked from Jake Parsons.
But any thoughts that this might not be Slough's night were quickly dispelled as, eight minutes later, Smith opened the scoring with an effort from the edge of the box which Khaira got a hand to, but could not prevent the ball from rolling into the corner of the goal.
On 29 minutes, Smith doubled his and his team's tally with a low finish to complete a superb passing move. Parsons fed Smith in the box, and he touched the ball past a defender to make space before slotting into the same corner of the goal. The hosts had certainly contributed to their own downfall by losing possession easily, but Slough afforded their opponents little time on the ball and punished them with quick passing and movement.
Hayes almost scored an own goal with Slough dominant, but a third goal did arrive a minute before half time from an unlikely source. Stuart Swift's corner was met at the far post by Dave Woozley, capitalising on more poor defending to side foot the ball past Khaira to score only his second goal for the club in 96 appearances.
Slough soaked up pressure from the hosts in the early stages of the second half as Hayes looked for a way back into the match, but Slough were soon back to the task of trying to kill the game off with a fourth goal. Smith was unlucky not to get enough power on an attempted lob from Swift's pass forward.
Adam Logie took to the field to make his 100th appearance for the club in place of Kyle Anthony, who looked to have sustained a hamstring injury. Steve Bateman will hope he is able to return to the side soon, given the impact he has made since his arrival.
Logie slotted into the defence and was largely untroubled as the visitors eased to the three points. Woozley was close to adding a second goal as he just failed to make contact with a cross from Swift after the defender had worked hard to create the opening. Hayes threatened only with wayward strikes from distance, though Jackson had to make his best save of the night to turn a fierce strike around the post.
Late on, Jackson was called upon to touch a free kick over the bar and substitute Ryan O'Toole, introduced in place of Burnell, was close to scoring his first Rebels goal, but Khaira saved well with his legs.
