Cobb Goal Enough For Daggers

A late strike from Paul Cobb gave Dagenham and Redbridge the points from their clash with Slough Town.

The win pushes the Daggers up to seventh place in the Ryman League premier division and extends their unbeaten league record to seven matches.

Slough were no pushovers, however, and both Cobb and Danny Shipp struggled to break through their defence.

Both defences were definitely on top in the first half, with the Daggers only managing a flurry of chances just before the break.

The visitors enjoyed a good spell of pressure around the hour mark but the longer the game went on the more likely a Daggers win became.

With time running out, the decisive goal arrived. Lee Matthews broke down a Slough attack and made good ground before finding David Pratt with a searching crossfield ball.

Pratt's near-post cross deceived two Slough defenders and Cobb nipped in to force the ball home.

Former Brighton and Brentford player Jeff Woolsey made an impressive showing on his league debut for the Daggers.

Dagenham & R. Line up
