Slough Town made it five wins in a row with a 2-0 success at Harrow Borough on Saturday. Paul Wilkerson's goal was rarely threatened and the defensive wall of skipper Steve Daly, Chris White and veteran player-manager Graham Roberts reduced the home side to speculative efforts.
It was a dull affair, but striker Bryan Hammatt set the visiting supporters in high spirits with a determined opening strike after six minutes. Chasing a through hall them Slough lob the ball neatly into the net.
Harrow played neat football at times but failed to penetrate a superb Slough defence. And, after a neat move involving Graham Kemp and Hammatt, Rebels midfielder Paul Barrowcliff rifled a long range effort over the bar. Up front, Hammatt and Andrew Deaner combined superbly and were unlucky not to create more clear-cut chances.
Slough's lead should have been extended shortly after the restart. Barrowcliff's cross found the advancing Denton, unmarked in the Harrow box, but he could only send his header over the bar. Denton went close four minutes later, blasting a superb volley just wide of the Harrow post.
Slough dominated the second half and were only put under pressure when former Slough player Lee Randall rounded Wilkerson and laid the ball across goal, but no Harrow player could get a touch.
With 10 minutes remaining, Barrowcliff wrapped up a deserved win with a second Slough goal. Barrowcliff's presence forced home keeper Paterson to totally miss-hit his clearance outside the 18-yard box, leaving the Slough midfielder with a free run on goal.
Slough sat back and controlled the play for the remainder of the match to seal their fifth win and fifth clean sheet in a row.
