Slough Town continue their winning way with an Athenian League victory over Dagenham, their last match as members of that competition, and at the expense of their neighbours, Maidenhead United, in the Premier Floodlit League, but the margin in each case was a single goal.

After the Dagenham game Slough received the Premier Division championship trophy which they showed with delight to the crowd.

To many at Slough Stadium last Friday night it was a nostalgic evening, Slough's last appearance in the Athenian League. Already champions, facing runners-up Dagenham, the old enemy, the two sides will face each other again next season in the newly formed Isthmian League second division, but the many encounters in the Athenian will leave many memories with Slough supporters.

After the game the Athenian League Championship Trophy was presented to Slough captain Roger Day to complete Slough's two-year supremacy of the league-what better way to part company with the Athenian Association.

The game itself was one of the cleanest and sporting seen at Slough Stadium this season. Play switched rapidly from end to end with both defences being tested continually. but the only real chance of the first half fell to Chatterton who smashed the ball against the post in the fourth minute.

The second half saw Moore, the Dagenham captain, beginning to dominate the midfield, but the Slough rearguard would not let the Dagenham forwards through and although Dagenham looked slightly the better side for the first 20 minutes of the half, Slough came back and in the 75th minute got the all-important goal. Day put Jamieson away and the Scottish forward controlled the ball well before volleying it home from just inside the six-yard box.
