Five-star Dorking Wanderers stole the show at Meadowbank as they sealed a convincing win over the Rebels, writes Henry Cheal.
The first goal came inside just 43 seconds as Jimmy Muitt found an opening on the left side and hit the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal.
Then after just nine minutes, Dorking doubled their lead as Isaac Philpot volleyed the ball into the goal from a throw in.
After half an hour of play, Dorking were awarded a penalty as a failed back pass to Jonathan North from Edon Pruti was quickly received by Alfie Rutherford, who tried to take the ball around the keeper but North brought him down. Thankfully for the Rebels, Moore couldn’t convert from the spot as he pulled his effort wide.
Lee Togwell gave Slough their first main opportunity just after the missed penalty, his strike from outside the box just missing the target.
Slough came close to halving the deficit as George Hunt escaped his man and had an effort from just inside the box, but it hit the inside of the post and rebounded to safety.
As the second half got underway, Slough were on the back foot once more as Dorking found a third from Dan Gallagher. A corner kick fell right into his path and he steered a volley into the top right corner of the goal.
Dorking made it four just five minutes later, as Rutherford added to his ever-growing tally for the season from several yards out after some link-up play from Josh Taylor and Wes Fogden.
Then with just 55 minutes played, Dorking scored what would prove to be their final goal of the match through Jason Prior, who tapped home the rebound after a save from North which turned the ball onto the post.
Dorking continued to attack relentlessly, with Fogden rattling the crossbar with a half-volley and Scott Davies doing well to block from Niall McManus.
There was one positive moment for the Rebels, as Alfie Anderson emerged from the bench to become the latest young player to make a senior debut from the successful Under 23 setup.
