A last-gasp goal from Danny Green gave Concord Rangers a share of the spoils in what was a feisty encounter at Arbour Park.
Green latched onto an inch-perfect cross from Joe Payne, slotting the ball beyond the stranded Jonathan North in goal for the Rebels.
Despite the late goal, Slough extended their unbeaten run to three games in what has been a great week after some misfortune earlier in the season.
On the back of two consecutive wins, Slough opened the scoring courtesy of striker Alfonso Tenconi. In only his third game for the senior team, he poached his second goal. George Hunt’s effort from 25 yards out was saved goalkeeper Myles Roberts, but Tenconi was there for the rebound to give the Rebels the lead on 19 minutes.
After great link up play from Scott Davies and Aaron Kuhl to find Ben Harris, Slough came close to doubling their lead but Harris skied his attempt over the bar.
Right after this, Concord played a long ball into the Slough box but Jonathan North was there to push it out of harm’s way. Though there were numerous penalty shouts from the Concord camp, nothing was given.
Just before the half time whistle blew Davies came close as he sent in a cross which almost crept in at the back post, forcing Roberts to push the ball out of play.
The second half was a much more physical encounter; Slough were happy to absorb pressure and look to hit the visitors on the counterattack.
On 78 minutes, Tenconi almost netted his and the Rebels’ second goal through a fine counterattack. Good work down the left saw the striker cut inside the Rangers penalty area, hitting a venomous shot agonisingly over the bar after linking up with substitute Max Worsfold.
Following the late goal, Slough almost found a winner, but the returning Warren Harris sent a free header off target.
Despite the late Concord goal, Slough can be proud of the last eight days as they not only managed to win their first game since the opening round of the season, but gained seven points out of a possible nine in what has been a very positive week.
