Slough fell to a third consecutive defeat at the hands of Concord Rangers, with defensive mistakes again proving costly.
The defeat puts Concord top of the early National League South table, but leaves the Rebels languishing in 19th position.
With several key players still out injured, Warren Harris slotted in at right-back whilst Guy Hollis was able to recover in time from hobbling off at Hungerford on Tuesday evening, partnering Lee Togwell at centre-back. George Wells returned at left-back for his first game of the season.
And just as on Tuesday evening, the Rebels gave their opponents a head start with a farcical opening goal. A loose ball from Scott Davies was punished fully by Decarrey Sheriff, who reacted quickest to score from close range.
Ben Harris, Slough’s most potent attacking threat throughout, headed a cross from Max Worsfold wide and Hollis was later denied by the frame of the goal as his firm header from a corner rebounded back off the crossbar.
And early in the second half, Harris was on hand to score the equaliser – and Slough’s first goal of the season – as he headed in a deep swirling cross from Matt Lench.
But just ten minutes later, Concord were back in front. Danny Green’s through pass released Sheriff, and this time the striker rounded Jack Turner before slotting home.
Sheriff came close to completing his hat-trick, but was denied by a crucial intervention from Davies.
