Slough Town got back to winning ways at a cold Holloways Park, coming from behind to beat landlords Beaconsfield SYCOB thanks to an Elliot Buchanan hat-trick.
After two disappointing home results, Steve Bateman’s side looked to get back to winning ways and went close to opening the scoring when Dean Clark’s flighted free-kick was hit first time by Buchanan, but he fired wide of goal with Sean Sonner stretching but unable to make contact.
However, Slough fell a goal behind as sloppy marking allowed Trevor Charlery to get free on the left hand side of the box, and he cut inside and drilled past Perks at his near post.
Steve Sinclair, who was enjoying much more space against the SYCOB defence than he was afforded against Sudbury on Saturday, volleyed wide after Sonner had pressured Chris Owens into an error.
Slough started to pile on the pressure and, after a clever dummy by Buchanan, the returning Paul Edgeworth drilled a low ball across the face of goal, but Dean Clark was unable to convert from a matter of yards out, and Sonner’s effort was blocked at the far post.
The Rebels found the equaliser they were looking for five minutes before half-time. Chris Herron’s whipped corner hit skipper Edgeworth on the back, and the ball fell to Yeboah who teed up Buchanan to slam the ball high past Chris Baker.
After the break, Slough soon started to dominate and took the lead with 54 minutes played. A cross from the left was headed back across goal by Steve Sinclair, and Buchanan was on hand again to volley high into the roof of the net.
A clever one-two then put Herron through on goal, but the winger shot wide on his weaker foot when one-on-one with Baker.
With eleven minutes remaining, Slough finally made the game safe. Substitute Simon Martin was hauled down in the box and Elliot Buchanan stepped up to confidently send Baker the wrong way from the penalty spot, thereby becoming the first Slough player to net a hat-trick in a senior match since Andy Ballard in January 2006.
The scoring was complete with two minutes remaining as substitute Tommy Hayes poked home from close range after Garry Sippetts had been denied by Baker, as Slough completed a straightforward victory ahead of an important clash with Sutton Coldfield next weekend.
