Slough's hopes of a cup run this season rest on the FA Trophy as Ashford were comprehensive winners in this League Cup clash and another game in which the Rebels failed to score at home.
Slough started brightly enough with Terry Davies, making his home debut, saw an effort which bounced up in front of Ben Lauder-Dykes turned around the post by the visiting keeper.
Kieron Drake pulled off a fantastic save at the other end when the ball was played in down the left, crossed over to the back post and Drake did exceptionally well to tip the headed effort over.
Gavin Smith opened the scoring for Ashford with fifteen minutes gone. Ashford broke into the box down the left and as Drake came out to close the angle, the ball was laid across to Smith who was able to finish into an open net despite pressure from Mark Bartley.
Slough went close to equalising at the start of the second half with a Marc Leach header going just wide but Ashford extended their lead with their first chance of the second half.
Ricky Wellard took a free kick from the left wing with an inswinger and it went all the way across the box with a number of players failing to get a touch and into the far corner of the net.
Smith got his second of the night midway through the second half with a neat finish. Receiving the ball with his back to goal, he turned and fired in a shot from the edge of the area which managed to get past Drake.
Slough's misery was compounded a minute later as Ashford broke down the right. A low cross was met at the back post by Stuart Lake and he was left with an easy finish to put Ashford four up on the night.
Slough's heads had dropped and it was only due to some last ditch blocks and some saves from Drake which prevented the score from being added to.
