Slough fell to their third defeat of the season as they travelled up to the Beveree, home of Hampton & Richmond Borough, on a beautiful August Bank Holiday afternoon.
Slough got off to the worst possible start and found themselves two down inside the opening ten minutes. With their first attack of the game in the second minute, the home side went in front when a ball into the box from the right was flicked on by Lawrence Yaku to find Andy Morley in space on the far side and his low drive went past Michael Parkin and into the far corner of the net.
Hampton went close again as a long throw into the box wasn't dealt with by Slough and the ball fell to Yaku but his volleyed effort went just wide. It didn't take long for the home side to extend their lead as a ball through the middle found Yaku in acres of space. Parkin came out and as Yaku knocked the ball round the keeper, he was taken out as he collided with Parkin. Elliott Godfrey was running through with his strike partner though and was able to tap into an unguarded net despite the best efforts of Carbon.
It was three with twenty two minutes gone as Yaku, who had been dangerous all match, found space again and received a through ball on the left channel. Touching forwards he picked his spot and fired low into the corner to give the Beavers a commanding lead.
Morley did have the ball in the net again with a header, but there was a push on Michael Alexis as the ball was in the air and the goal was ruled out. A similar move a few minutes later again saw the same result, Hampton having the ball in the net but seeing it ruled out for a foul. This time Robert Paris was deemed to have unfairly challenged Parkin for a high ball into the area.
It was one way traffic and only one side looked like scoring unfortunately for the Rebels. Yaku again had an opportunity when well placed in the middle of the area before Yaku again ran through but hit a tame effort which Parkin saved comfortably.
The start of the second half saw the game continue in much the same manner. Yaku's pace wascausing the back three of Slough all sorts of problems and the striker brought a good save from Parkin.
In Slough's first attack of note in the game, they scored their first goal. A diagonal ball over the top was not dealt with by Paris and Ian Hodges cut the ball into the area. His low shot was blocked but the ball looped up and Matt Seedel was running in to convert.
Hodges added Slough's second five minutes later. A ball in from the left saw the striker run in and place a firm header towards goal. Matt Lovett saved well but could only push the ball back up to the Rebels striker and he made no mistake looping his effort over the guarding defender and into the far corner.
Hodges went close with another header, flashing it just wide of the far post as Slough looked to get back on level terms but they could not find an equalising goal and Hampton held on.
