Slough's congested recent fixture list saw them make a host of changes again with seven changes from the draw with Northwood, but again Slough were on the losing side as their winless run extended to five games.
Heybridge, beaten by Slough in the League Cup semi finals, gained a form of revenge with a comfortable victory as they looked to cement a top ten finish. The Essex side found themselves two up inside the opening half hour as goals from Griffiths, converting from close range, and Akurang with a curling effort opened the scoring for the Swifts.
Slough's only chance of note saw Paul Rutherford save well from Matt Miller.
As the rain came down in the second half, a boggy pitch was getting heavier. Miller again had a good opportunity for Slough but could only steer the ball wide with just Rutherford to beat. Heybridge continued to look the better of the two sides and were adapting to the changing conditions much better than the Rebels and it was no surprise when they extended their lead with fifteen minutes to go. Griffiths added his second of the game as he deflected in a shot from Jamie Baker which wrong footed Allaway.
Slough did pull one back in injury time through Ryan Spencer as the midfielder curled one into the far corner of the net but the Rebels will have had more than one eye on the cup final at Staines Town in two days time.
