Despite having not played in two weeks following the postponement of last weeks game at Corinthian Casuals, Slough just about got past a tough Horsham challenge.
Whilst Horsham are struggling in the league, their recent performances against Bromley, Marlow and Croydon have seen them navigate these games without defeat, so the win for the Rebels was well earned.
The squad was beginning to flesh out again with the return of Spencer, Moller and Deaner to the bench, all following spells out with injury.
A recurring theme of this season, Slough started brightly moving the ball around well but did not work enough scoring opportunities. Hakki went close from a free kick, but despite having the better of the play, the final ball just wasn't there for Slough.
Slough did finally take the lead through their top scorer, Ian Hodges. Daly fed the ball out to Harris on the right wing and his cross found Hodges who finishes cooly.
Five minutes before the end of the half, Harris again was involved. Feeding into Boot this time, Boot's chip was going wide but Hodges anticipated and ran in to tap home from close.
There was still time for a further goal though as in first half injury time, Charman was able to head home from a corner to give Horsham hope.
The late goal at the end of the first half boosted the visitors and they drew level early in the second half. It was Charman again, this time with a wonderful strike from the edge of the area.
The goals for the visitors changed the complexion of the game and Horsham were firmly on top. Only some last ditch defending kept them from taking the lead.
Surprisingly, it was Slough who weathered the storm and then managed to get themselves in front. A goalkeeping error allowed Hodges to prod home after a Boot shot was not held.
Horsham took the initiative again though, but as much as they pressed, they could not find a way through and Slough held on for three valuable points.
