After being two goals to the worse at half-time, the Rebels turned in a rampant display in the second period to clinch the points.
In effect, this was a game of two managers — Alan Davies' tactical reshuffle changed the face of the game but George Borg of Barking seemed more intent on changing faces. Borg made his mark in the first minute as John Watt had to be carried off — a victim of one of his crunching challenges.
Trevor How came on and before Slough could adjust they were a goal down. Robbie Johnson was beaten for pace by a crossfield pass, Warren May raced on to curl the ball over Bunting from close range.
The visitors went two up when Nicky Engwell headed Billy Goldstone's free kick in at the near post and the Rebels were in desperate trouble with barely an hour to salvage the match.
It was no surprise when Borg was booked just before the break, after bringing down Connor and in the process, virtually put himself out of the game in fear of an early bath.
But Alan Davies pulled a master-stroke at half-time, and Barking didn't know what hit them.
Brian Connor was taken off and Neal Stanley brought on up front as the sweeper system was disposed of.
After 55 minutes the Rebel goal rout, was underway, Bateman finishing off Adam's cross from close range.
Two minutes later Adams won the ball on the right, crossing for Thompson at the far post, who headed into Stanley’s path to crash home.
The torrential rain eased up and everything began to look bright for Slough. Tommy Langley looking in command up front and the defence was solid.
How had a header cleared off the line, Langley's superb volley was saved, and then in the 66th minute, Adams corner was powerfully headed in by Trevor How
"Supersub" Stanley then headed his second after Langley floated in a perfect cross and Slough dominated the remaining twelve minutes.
Alan Davies said after the game: "It was a superb second half. I gave them a good talk¬ing to at half-time and took a gamble at the back."
"It was not a very good start but you have to praise them for the second half," he added.
