Superiority in the first half won Chesham United the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup. They beat red-hot favourites Slough Town, 2-1, at Wycombe Wanderers' ground on Easter Monday.
Chesham led 2-0 at the interval. Their first goal was scored by 24 year old Norman Derland, who, on leave from the Navy, substituted for the regular centre forward, Len Ling. He also made the second goal scored by Biggerstaff.
In the second half, Slough attacked with fury and made things uncomfortably hot for Chesham who packed their goal. Parham reduced the arrears, but Chesham gave nothing more away. Their goalie, Charlie Smith, brought off some fine saves.
George Terpilowski, Chesham's right back and captain did splendidly. Biggerstaff was outstanding up forward. Centre half Shipwright drew the string of the opposing centre-forward.
The 8,000 crowd paid about £500 in gate-money. It as Chesham's ninth Senior Cup win.
