FA Amateur Cup
Slough defeated Osberton Radiators on Saturday at Oxford by three goals to nil in the extra preliminary round, of the Amateur Cup, and thus gained the right to play Kidlington in the next round at the Dolphin Stadium, Slough on Saturday week.
The visitors started off at a cracking pace, and as a measure of their superiority during the opening twenty minutes or so, forced five corners in the opening five minutes, although nothing came of them.
After ten minutes Slough scored their first goal, when Parham took a Clements header on the run, giving Baugham no chance with a magnificent shot.
After this Slough's forwards were unfortunate not to run up a crop of goals. Goodchild shot over the bar, with Baugham out of position; Angell headed from close-in; and Parham saw another good shot saved by the Osberton keeper.
After thirty minutes came Slough Town's second goal. Baugham fumbled a Kornas effort and let the ball slip through his hands into the net.
Sutch and Clements were also unlucky not to add to Slough's score.
After the interval the Osberton defenders were allowed a respite, for the visitors' attack eased off considerably. The home forwards came more into the match and Wiltshire was called upon to make one particularly skilful save from Townley.
But the visitors' defence held strong, and the Osberton men were thwarted in their efforts to score.
At the other end Baugham, Osberton's last line of defence. was having a testing time with the Slough forwards. He made many excellent saves.
Three minutes from time Clements took the ball when unmarked and made no mistake to score the visitors' third and last goal.
