For the replay, Les, of course, cannot play and Arthur is unable to get leave from his unit. Positional changes are Ron to centre half, Stan to left half, Jock to inside left and Ernie Clarke comes in at inside right and Joe Hewitt to centre.
Big Bob takes over the job of skipper and the Rebels are ready for the fray. A grand cross from Fox sees Joe Hewitt glide the ball to the back of the net.
Allison levels scores and the lads change over at one goal all.
The second venture saw the boys at their very best and another cross from Terry gave McKenzie the opening for the second goal.
Leytonstone went to pieces and were overrun from this point onwards.
Fine goalkeeping by Hill alone kept the Rebels out. First Clarke, then Angell, then McKenzie rammed in shots that brought the best out of Hill but finally a Hewitt drive found its way past this very gallant keeper.
Leslie Brown played his hardest game of the season in this replay. I sat next to him in the stand and believe me he kicked me every time he would have cleared the ball had he been on the field!
