Doug Sears
We were pleased to have Doug Sears, Harry Marshall and Gil Fussell with us again, but unfortunately both backs, Elderfield and Rowe, were injured.
This gave us eight players who are generally recognized as forwards.
The team gave a very good exhibition of classy football and there was never any doubt of the result after Alan McCrohan opened the score.
Doug Sears followed up with three peaches and led the line with fine judgment. Angell and Ingram formed a clever right win, while Hawkes and McCrohan, on the left, completed a workmanlike vanguard which delighted the onlookers with their clever combined movements.
Brown had quite a tussle with Inglis, but came out on the credit side.
The wing half backs, Marshall and Williams, were very good indeed and apparently tireless.
Clements gave a polished display of clean kicking in an unusual position. Many are of the opinion that Ron would make the best back in the League, give a little time to settle down.
Gil Fussell turned out with a damaged ankle but kept his end up in the wholehearted manner in which we have come to expect from this little Trojan.
Peter gave a faultless display in goal, although that free-kick on the bar shook him.
