Slough’s unbeaten run continues after the Rebels were held to a 1-1 draw against Dover Athletic at Arbour Park, writes David Tancred.
David Boateng opened the scoring for Dover on 10 minutes through a brilliant 25 yard strike that went straight into the top corner giving Will Dennis no chance in the Slough goal.
On 20, the Rebels looked for an equaliser as Francis Amartey went on a brilliant run down the left hand side, running from inside his own half to the Dover box however the number 7 was denied by Stuart Nelson.
From the resultant corner, the ball found an unmarked Matt Hall whose strike met Temi Eweka but the defender couldn’t turn it in.
On 26, Will Dennis was called into action as a Dover counter-attack found Jack Paxman on the edge of the box with Dennis getting down well to push the ball out for a corner.
There was a big chance on 30 minutes as Lee Togwell intercepted the ball from midfield and played the ball into Amartey with the forward cutting back and finding Goddard in the box, however the effort went agonisingly wide.
Slough got their deserved equaliser through Temi Eweka five minutes before the break. Matt Lench whipped a free kick into the box with Dover not fully dealing with it, and the ball eventually fell to Eweka whose header brilliantly looped over Nelson and into the net.
The Rebels started the second half strongly and on 51 minutes, a brilliant back heel from Amartey found Gabe George, who burst down the left hand side and found Ogo Obi in the box, however the forward was unable to get a clean connection.
Will Dennis produced a magnificent save on 57 after the ball reached David Boateng in the box, who cut back and whipped an effort towards the far corner, with Dennis equal to it and tipping the ball away from danger.
Dover struck the post on 73 after the ball was crossed into Josh Ajayi with the header thankfully striking the outside of the post and staying out.
Dover had yet another big chance on 84 as Luke Wanadio was played through on goal, however the effort was well over the bar.
The Rebels pushed for a winner but was unable to create any clear cut chances with a draw fairly representing the performance from both sides.
It’s now six games unbeaten with the Rebels looking to continue their impressive form in the next match away to Hampton & Richmond Borough next Saturday.
