Despite going a goal behind early on Slough rallied to record an impressive victory against fellow promotion chasers Rothwell Town at Holloways Park.
It was the visitors who made the stronger start to the match even though they had little time to prepare for the match, having arrived late due to traffic congestion on the motorway.
They could have took the lead within minutes when former Leicester City striker Jon Stevenson crossed from the right and Kevin Byrne headed just past the post.
Just minutes later the Bones did take the lead. Byrne found himself clean through on goal and slotted low past goalkeeper Ricky Perks to give the away side the lead – despite the Rebels calls for an offside against the striker.
After a slow start Slough gradually began to take control of the match. They equalised when Robbie Kean crossed from the left. He found Mo Sharif who saw his shot saved, but striker Tommy Hayes was on hand to stab home the rebound.
Midway through the half it looked as though the Rebels would go in front when loanee Leon Hibbert seemed certain to score from just yards out, only to be denied by a fantastic save by goalkeeper Tom Cross.
Hibbert was not to be denied his goal in his penultimate game for the Rebels before returning to Corby. Just five minutes before half-time he headed home a Hayes corner to give the Rebels a half-time lead.
Slough continued where they left-off in the first-half, but struggled to create any chances early on. Sixty-seven minutes in though that soon changed as they scored their third when Kean ran through the Rothwell defence and saw his fierce shot from 20-yards nestle in the corner of the net.
Just two minutes later the Rebels wrapped-up victory when the ever-dangerous Dean Harper headed home another Hayes corner to complete the scoring.
Slough had several other opportunities to add to the scoreline, but will be more than happy to claim a convincing victory against a side who are sitting second in the league table.
