In the past two seasons, Slough have made at least the semi finals of the Isthmian League Cup, still under Westview sponsorship for this season, and whilst it took them extra time to get past Arlesey Town, they progressed through into the third round this season.
All four goals in the game came in extra time with Slough taking a three goal lead through Anaclet Odhiambo, Daryl Harris and Matt Glynn before Henty got a late consolation in the final minute for the home side.
Garath McCleary, as so often has been the case this season, looked Slough's best attacking threat but whilst Slough had the better of the opening stages, they did not trouble the home keeper. McCleary missing one good headed opportunity in particular when he placed his effort wide when unmarked in the box.
The home side came back into the game in the second half of normal time, having not tested Kieron Drake in the first half but the finishing from both sides was wayward and neither keeper was being called into action.
Arlesey certainly were growing into the game and were applying more pressure to the goal. Drake had to be alert to tip an effort over and from the resulting corner the ball was only half cleared before Arlesey crashed one off the top of the bar with a great strike from outside the area as they finished the game strongly but still unable to break the deadlock.
The game progressed into extra time and Slough resumed command of the game. Having gone close through a Leigh Mason volley, Slough got themselves in front through Odhiambo with seven minutes of the first period of extra time gone.
Glynn fed the ball into Harris who in turn put a smart ball through to the run of Odhiambo and the striker finished at the near post as Slough's sub's combined to break the deadlock.
Glynn went close from a direct free kick before Steve Daly put in a great block to deflect a shot over when the Arlesey player was well placed inside the area.
Just as in the first period of extra time, Slough scored after seven minutes in the second period. Mason ran with the ball, evading a few challenges before threading the ball through to Harris. The striker smashed the ball home at the near post with a strong finish with his first goal for the club.
Slough got their third with two minutes remaining as Michael Alexis played in Steve Dell down the right. His cross found Glynn in space in the middle of the box and the midfielder finished well into the bottom corner.
Arlesey got a consolation in the final minute as a corner from the left was bundled home at the back post by Henty.
