Slough Town travelled to Northwood in cold, windy conditions, looking for their first win at Chestnut Avenue knowing that a win could see them overtake their hosts in the table and put them right back into the frame for a play-off place.
Whilst Slough had started the match well, both sides struggled to create chances of note during the first half and Allaway had to field away a tame shot. Spencer did go close with a well struck shot from outside the area having broken through from midfield, but the home keeper was able to palm the ball over.
The Woods did take the lead with six minutes of the half left. McHale smashed one in from long range which the wind seemed to affect and it flew inside
Slough continued in the second half with more than their fair share of the ball but were struggling to get a good final ball in for the attacking players. Seedel was introduced in place of Steer and nearly had an immediate impact with a shot which skimmed off the top of the bar.
Slough did continue to press but despite half chances from Haddow and another for Seedel, didn't threaten enough to get through a well marshalled home defence.
