With their focus now on the league following their midweek county cup defeat against Bracknell, Slough made it five league wins in a row this afternoon with a hard-fought win over Whyteleafe. Daly, Foster and Hodges all returned to the line up having been rested midweek and Slough played some good approach football without creating clear opportunities.
The away side took the lead with ten minutes of the half left. Poor defending allowed Williams to head the visitors in front but Slough's response was swift as Hodges scored twice in reply before the half was out to put Slough in front. His first came after thirty eight minutes as he beat the keeper and defence to a left sided corner and rose above everyone to head home from close range. It was a similar method to put Slough in the lead just before the interval. Another corner from the left, this time was flicked on by Moller at the near post and Hodges was on hand to head high into the net from inside the six yard box.
The second half was a closely contested affair. Hodges went close to completing his hat-trick but lifted his lob over the bar under pressure from the keeper. Wilkinson struck a fierce volley from outside the area which had Boot got a touch on would have placed the ball on the right side of the post, but the ball flashed wide. Boot did get himself onto the scoresheet though with a well taken finish. Moller cleared the ball out to Hodges on the right wing and his crossfield ball found the run of Boot who was able to prod the ball past the advancing keeper and into the corner of the net.
