Slough Town reignited their own promotion push with a 1-0 victory over Croydon Athletic at Stag Meadow.
The crucial goal came after only two minutes from Ian Hodges but the Rebels were value for their win as they dominated the game for long spells.
It was only in the closing stages that Athletic posed any threat and those were dealt with comfortably, even though Slough didn't hit the heights themselves.
They are now in sixth spot in the table, the final promotion place, but with games in hand on the sides above them, Slough should be capable of making up that ground and distancing themselves from the sides below them.
Slough visit Banstead Athletic on Saturday and on Tuesday they face a trip to Corinthian Casuals.
