Two goals from Tony Boot gave Slough Town a very important derby victory against Marlow.

It took the Rebels only six minutes to take the lead with their first attack of the match. Sammy Winston ran clean through on goal and looked set to shoot, but he unselfishly laid the ball off to Tony Boot who had the simplest of tasks to place the ball into the empty net. After that great start many expected the Rebels to go on and create more chances, but Marlow were causing the Rebels problems - especially with a large number of long throw's into the penalty area by former Magpies skipper Tim Cook.

Slough had the next chance of the match when a Ryan Spencer corner fell kindly to Byron Bubb. His shot from a narrow angle on the left was parried away by Marlow goalkeeper Lee Carroll. Soon after the home side had another chance when another Spencer corner from the left was headed goalward by defender Nick Gyoury, but Carroll did well to push the ball away from his goal again.

Marlow's first real shot on Gary McCann's goal came midway through the half when Nick Ryder's shot from the left was well parried by the Rebels goalkeeper, and the danger was cleared. Slough almost took a two goal lead when a deflected cross from Sammy Winston off the right saw the ball loop up in the air and cannon off the top of the crossbar.

Marlow should have been back on level terms minutes before the half-time break when a corner into the penalty area was only partially cleared to Sam Shephed who somehow missed just yards out from McCann's goal. Slough should have added to their lead with their last attack of the half when a long ball from Dave Rainford was flicked on by Boot to Winston. He ran clean through on goal only to see Carroll save the ball well with his legs.

Slough started slowly in the second half and it was the away side who had the first chance of the half when a goalbound shot from Cook was well blocked by Rebels captain Steve Daly. That was Marlow's only real chance though as the home side created all of the chances.

Winston had a similar chance to the one he lad late in the first half, but he saw Carroll yet again dely him with another good save. On seventy minutes Slough added a second goal when a delightful through ball by the excellent Christian Metcalfe found Boot in the penalty area. He hit a superb shot into the corner of the net leaving Carroll with no chance.

Boot had two late chances to complete his hat-trick. The first coming when a curling cross from Rainford found the Rebels striker with only Carroll to beat but he shot straight at Carroll. Then soon after he had another chance after a long through ball by Paul Barrowcliff, but his shot was saved by Carroll.
