A first goal from Slough Town winger Byron Bubb was cancelled out by second half goals by Kevin Smith and Stephen Davey as the Rebels' run in the FA Cup ended at the First Round Proper stage.
The match was a fairly scrappy affair early on with some tough challenges taking place in midfield, but it was the Yorkshire side who had the best chance in the opening ten minutes when Matthew Flynn found himself with only Gary McCann to beat, but his shot was saved.
The home side had a chance of their own shortly afterwards when a cross from Alvin Bubb was met at the near post by Sammy Winston, but the Rebels striker put his shot wide.
On the half-hour mark the Rebels went in front when a foul on the edge of the area on Sammy Winston saw Byron Bubb step up to delightfully curl the ball into the corner of the net to put the home side ahead.
Railway had a good chance to equalise soon after when Ian McClean was left free inside the area with only McCann to beat. His shot seemed goalbound until Paul Barrowcliff charged down the shot and the ball was deflected away.
Shortly after half-time the Rebels had a great chance to go two goals ahead when some good play by Alvin Bubb saw him cross the ball to Tony Boot who composed himself, and shot towards goal only to see a Harrogate Railway defender block the ball on the line.
This was probably a turning point in the match as the away side began to take control of the match. They equalised when a harsh looking free kick was awarded against Anthony Howard. The set-piece was floated into the area for Smith who headed the ball down and into the top corner of the net.
Minutes later the home side felt they should have had a penalty when a mazy run by Alvin Bubb saw his pace take him past the Harrogate defence and looked set to score until a last ditch tackle came in from a Harrogate defender. The home side and crowd appealed for a penalty, but no decision was given.
Cheered on by their vocal and passionate supporters Harrogate Railway went ahead when substitute Davey found himself free at the front post from a McClean corner, and headed into the net.
In truth the Rebels probably deserved to be behind as they stopped playing the ball on the floor as they did in the latter part of the first half, which caused the home side some problems. Instead they hit long balls towards Boot and Winston who had no chance against the tall Railway defenders.
As the match came to an end a half-chance fell to Sammy Winston who shot wide, but Harrogate deservedly held on to cue celebrations long into the night for the Railwaymen.
Slough were nowhere near their best today, but they have probably been the Ryman league team of the FA Cup winning six games on their run. Games against Canvey Island and AFC Totton will not be forgotten, but now it's time to concentrate on the league - and concentrate on getting the thing that we want the most, promotion back to the Ryman Premier league.
