Saints recorded their first ever victory at Wexham Park with a stunning three goal burst in the second half with goals from former Rebel Lee Harvey, Rob Haworth and Lee Piper easing them to three points.

Slough started the better of the two sides and had the better of the exchanges in the opening half, but despite Strevens forcing a save from the surprise return to the Saints side of Tony Roberts and a David Rainford cross almost catching out the keeper.

The Saints had their own chances as Steve Clark saw a headed effort saved by Danny Honey, who had turned down a move to Clarence Park in the week, and David Pratt narrowly missing the target with a touch on Tom Meredith's free kick.

St Albans made a half time change with Lenny Piper replacing Keith Salton, with Pollard dropping back to defence. Slough again started the half pushing forward, with Strevens having a good chance on 50 minutes when his shot went across the face of the goal.

Saints managed to claw their way back into the game and took charge just after the hour. McCormack had a good shot save by Honey. Moments after that Saints had a very good shout for a penalty when a Dave Timothy challenge left Clark on the deck, but the match official deemed no offence in the challenge and waved play on.

Honey made two superb saves in the space of 30 seconds. First from Piper's shot which he cleared of the line with his boot, and then from the corner Harvey's header from close range was again pushed away for another corner. This time Harvey made no mistake with his header, which Honey could only help into the roof of the net.

The goal provided St Albans with the momentum and they looked increasingly dangerous with each attack and it was no surprise when they extended their lead after 76 minutes. An uncharacteristic error from Steve Daly let Rob Haworth break clear to the edge of the box before driving a shot into the top corner of the net.

Five minutes later the result was put out of doubt when sub Piper finished off a move which he started, reacting first to get to a rebound from a Clark shot to slot home.

City did have one final change to extend their lead further but a header from substitute Steve Butler went over the top.
