Slough Town face Crawley Town in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup after knocking out Jewson League side Halstead Town on Saturday.

The Rebels won 3-1 and if they can get through the next round then league opposition could be the prize on offer. Slough made a lively start and were unlucky not to be a goal ahead after just 20 seconds. Brian Hamatt turned in the box and found full back Mark Holzman at the far post but Holzman couldn't control his shot and the chance was gone.

The Rebels always looked more likely to score and the opening goal came from an unlikely source after a superb free-kick by Hardyman. His pin-point cross found centre back Richard Peirson at the near post and he got ahead of the defender to score after 18 minutes.

Another accurate free-kick from Hardyman found Michael Thorp unmarked n the penalty area. He headed across the goal where Simon Bochenski and Hammett both bundled the ball against the post. Hammett went close once again just before halftime curling his shot just wide of the mark.

The Rebels scored their second goal after 55 minutes when Justin Channing made the most of a mistake by Halstead goalkeeper Mick Bavester.

The only black mark was a 65th minute penalty conceded by substitute Erwin Asselman. Halstead's Dave Mackroy dispatched the penalty easily to give the visitors a much needed lifeline.

But the Rebels were determined to hold onto their lead and killed off the game with eight minutes remaining.

Man-of-the-match Hammett followed up Denton's shot which crashed against the post to fire the Rebels safely into the next round.

The Rebels travel to Crawley on October 31 it the next round.
