The visitors looked as if they thought that all three points were up for grabs but once again Hampton showed that on their day they were a match for anybody. The whole team hustled for 90 minutes and fully deserved the draw, the key being Matthew Miller's pace.
Slough's defence looked out of sorts from the start and when Miller started running at them they panicked .
But Slough should have opened the scoring, Hampton's keeper Mark Russell making a point blank save from Richard Pierson in the 14th minute.
Miller applied the final touch to a good Hampton move in the 24th minute after Jamie Beer had shown great determination in midfield to win the ball, Peter Wood popped up on the left to fire in a shot, and Miller was on hand to make sure the ball crossed the line. Within 30 seconds Slough were level, ex-Reading and Kingstonian player Neville Roach scoring at the far post as Hampton totally relaxed.
The second half continued at the same frantic pace but Hampton were now making the running.
When Slough broke out it was with purpose as their giant striker Gary McVie showed when he met a right wing cross to give Slough a 2-1 lead in the 54th minute.
Hampton fought back, Dave Stephenson almost touched the ball home but Slough's keeper Paul Wilkerson somehow got it away.
Andy Gray, on for Robin Lewis, set Miller away with a neat flick and was just a fraction late arriving at the far post to turn Miller's pass in. Ian Savage sent in a drive that Wilkerson had to parry over the bar and at the other end Russell, again, was on hand throwing himself across to push McVie's header away for a corner, in a storming couple of minutes Hampton went close several times.
Then, at the death, Jason Brown stole in on the far side to strike the ball out of the reach of Wilkerson to give Hampton a more than warranted draw.
