On an evening when the Rebels defeated Farnborough Town 3-1, Slough passed the total amount of points and wins obtained during their two previous Conference campaigns.
Slough had the best of the early play and Briley and McKinnon broke free before having his shot blocked by the visiting 'keeper. During the opening stages Sayer, Fiore and McKinnon all caused Farnborough problems, but we found ourselves a goal down after 16 minutes.
A long clearance fell to the edge of the Slough 18-yard box. Anderson's part clearance was headed back in again for the waiting Leworthy on the right who then rounded Bunting before shooting into an empty net.
Slough responded well and Fairweather had a long shot just held by the visiting 'keeper. Thereafter a Whitby free-kick set up a shot from Hazel, but his effort was pushed over for a corner.
Slough levelled after 31 minutes. The ball was pushed deep into the Farnborough half; Fairweather turned on the edge of the 18-yard box and despatched his shot hard and low for a deserved equaliser.
Five minutes later Slough were ahead. A Stanley right wing cross was touched on by McKinnon for Sayer to dive in and head home Slough's second.
After the break we continued to push forward for the decisive third. McKinnon had a shot pushed around for a corner and both Sayer and Foran came close to increasing our advantage. We had a couple of breaks for repairs to the floodlights, but added the third after 65 minutes. Another right-wing cross from Stanley caught the visitors flat-footed, allowing Sayer the luxury of tapping the ball home from close range.
Farnborough had a couple of opportunities late in the game to reduce the arrears, but Bunting was equal to all thrown at him. At the death Sayer missed an excellent opportunity to complete his hat-trick, but by then the outcome of this prolonged Conference fixture was already settled.
