Slough turned in a much more determined performance to pick up a hard earned point at the Bower Field on Saturday afternoon.
With a little more luck they could have collected all three points but the home goal keeper Ross Hughes denied Rebels leading scorer Andy Sayer's point blank header in the 60th minute.
Overall chances on goal were fairly even with Trevor Bunting saving twice from Paul Higg in the second half.
On a sticky pitch defenders generally held the upper hand, but Slough manager David Kemp must be especially with his team's battling display in the middle of the defence where in centre half Mark Foran and Darren Anderson kept a tight reign on Frank Bunn and Mark Edwards.
A moment of light relief happened in the 10th minute when referee Carl Bassingdale from Doncaster discovered that Slough had two players on the field wearing the number eight shirt and Andy Sayer had to change to wear number nine.
Slough had several chances to score as early as the third minute when Mark Foran put his header over the bar following a free kick by Les Briley.
Darren Anderson picked up a caution in the 11th minute for a foul on Paul Dixon.
Mark Fiore, who was given his full debut, played well and supplied several dangerous crosses which put the home side under pressure.
After half an hour Steve Scott's header from McKinnon was well saved by Hughes, while the hosts' best chance of the half fell to Higginbottom who put his free header wide from just eight yards.
In the second half it was touch and thrust with both side going close on several occasions, but Slough were indebted to Trevor Bunting for two fine saves.
