Jimmy Brown returned to Wexham Park and scored with a sweet strike to finish off a great more on Tuesday evening.
And it was good news all round for Slough in their Berks and Bucks Cup tie with Flackwell Heath. Paul McKinnon oozed quality as he returned from a long lay off and Gary Donnellan was back to play at left back.
This County cup tie attracted a meagre 269 supporters but they were treated to a highly entertaining game in which Mick Putnam scored Slough's fifth with a tackle —55 yards out!
Slough were never in any real trouble though then Diadora League division three opponents did look nippy upfront.
After only five minutes Slough were ahead. Steve Thompson got a dig in the back in the penalty area and Paul McKinnon marked only the fifth minute of his return with a clinical finish from the penalty spot.
Slough piled forward and created a number of openings with Colin Fielder crashing a volley off the bar. Flackwell had the odd good break but Slough were always in control and added a second, magnificent goal on 29 minutes. Brown picked up the ball in the Slough half as they broke and a few touches saw Donnellan, McKinnon and Stanley set up a move across the pitch which Brown finished superbly.
One minute later Steve Thompson dribbled round Flackwell's defence and fired home and on the stroke of half time Stanley sent in a cross which Tony Dell headed home.
Flackwell came storming back at the start of the second half with McKinnon's poor pass committing Tony Knight and Neil Ludgate followed up Anthony Wood's effort for 4-1.
Flackwell had a few good chances as Slough sat back and relaxed and pulled another back with Wood's superb turn and shot.
But on 63 minutes Flackwell broke and as Steve Wallace turned Putnam thrust in a leg to tackle, caught the ball fully and it sailed over the Flackwell keepers's head with the aid of the wind from the half way line for an incredible goal!
