SLOUGH's current Jekyll and Hyde form continued at Wexham Park on Saturday as they brushed last week's defeat behind them to cruise to a two goal victory against Kingstonian.
It was a crucial win over the K's who had shown good form of late and are hard on the heels of the Rebels in the chase for third spot in the Vauxhall Opel Premier Division.
Mark Adams had a hand in both goals and it wasn't long before Slough opened the scoring. Adams raced to the bye-line and crossed low for Robert Wignall who was narrowly denied in his first team debut.
But from the resultant corner, Jeff Bateman rose at the far post to power a superb header into the back of the net after 12 minutes.
Both sides created chances in the first half with neither team holding the upper hand as both midfields fought for dominance.
Kingstonian almost scored when Duffy's clearance was deflected into the path of Westley, but Lester dived bravely to save at his feet.
Ex-Rebel Jimmy Brown, top scorer for Slough last season with 34 goals, went close with a fierce volley which went just wide and was again denied by Lester who got down well to his low header.
Slough substituted How for Duffy at half-time and after 46 minutes White's curling cross almost put Slough two up but Kingstonian 'keeper Power pushed the ball over the bar.
Slough began to dominate the game with Adams' constant runs down the left flank and crosses testing the Kingstonian defence.
With Wignall slotting in well up front, Slough looked the side most likely to score and almost did when another reserve Barry Rake blasted a volley inches wide.
White did well to kick a Westley header off the line and shortly after, Lester did well to save the same attacker's shot.
As the Rebels took firm control of the game, chances rained in on the Kingstonian goal with Wignall going close, Power saving well from White's low cross hi deny Rake and a diving header from Mark Adams close to grazing the post.
Then after 77 minutes, Stanley was fouled on the edge of the Kingstonian area. Adams again floated in the resultant free kick into the box with the ball falling to the feet of the unmarked Trevor How who blasted home at the far post to sea three points.
