CARSHALTON come to Wexham Park on Saturday and the question Slough fans who saw Tuesday night's Isthmian League Premier Division draw between the teams wants answered is: "Will there be a repeat of the ill tempered tactics shown then?"
Four players, two on either side, were booked and the personal grudges which developed between individuals was more a feature of the match than the actual football.
The two Slough offenders were Barry Friend, who collected his second booking in two games, though a little unluckily in the eyes of most onlookers, and Vic Akers, while Carshalton were a shade fortunate to escape with just the two cautions.
Even though Staines hammered Wycombe Wanderers 4-1 on the same night, the point gained was good enough to keep Slough away from the immediate relegation struggle and caretaker manager Laurie Churchill had good reason to feel pleased with the result as three key players were out of the side.
Charlie Marks was sidelined with a knee injury and Terry Reardon had a damaged ankle, while Peter Feely was unavailable. Feely, who was in France, will be returning before Saturday's match but both Marks and Reardon are still considered doubtful.
The goals were scored in a lively first half with Carshalton taking the lead from a free kick, which should have been stopped by goalkeeper Richard Teale.
Slough, however, drew level when the Carshalton goalkeeper dropped a corner and the resulting goalmouth scramble ended when Micky Kiely headed home.
The injuries to Marks and Reardon could mean that Alan Gane will keep his place in Saturday's team after returning following an injury.
