Premier Midweek FL
Once again a single goal earned Slough victory on Monday evening when the Town began their defence of the Premier Midweek League trophy with a home match against Wembley. The all-important goal was scored by Mick Chatterton in the 20th minute of a far from exciting game.
This goal famine of Slough's is difficult to understand for once more the Town had most of the play and forced 15 corners and also were awarded a host of free kicks.
Tottman took the role of substitute, letting in Micky O'Sullivan. Wembley put up a desperate fight and had Mick McNutt and Micky Scott booked, Chatterton scored the only goal after 20 minutes which followed a series of hot attacks on the Wembley goal. D'Arcy put the ball across from a free kick and Chatterton jumped higher than anyone else to head the ball into the corner of the net.
Reardon and Day began to dominate the midfield scene and Eastick in the Wembley goal had a very busy time. The second half saw Slough continue to hammer away at the visitors' defence without being able to show any further tangible reward for their exertions.
